Crystal City Potomac Yard Transitway Transit Displays
Arlington County and the City of Alexandria have implemented the Washington metropolitan area’s first right-of-way dedicated to premium surface transit. Further, this was using Redmon's TransitDisplay technologies to communicate real-time, multi-modal transit information. In addition, the 4.5-mile Transitway provides faster, more reliable bus service along a congested corridor, with amenities designed to attract new riders. Consequently, in its first year, the Transitway saw an average 45% increase in weekday ridership; for instance.
In addition, Arlington’s Transitway section includes exclusive bus lanes, a rush hour bus lane and seven new transit stations featuring Redmon digital displays. Also, separating bus service from traffic results in corridor-wide travel time savings of 2.5 minutes for riders on average.
Moreover, the Redmon TransitDisplay technologies in use for the Transitway include both large-format LCD displays as well as high-brightness LED panels.
