Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) was looking to enhance the user experience associated with their 511 traveller information website. VDOT wanted to incorporate advanced mapping technologies, content management, routing, traffic cameras, and user customization into their web system, along with a complete overhaul of the content and look-and-feel.
Redmon worked extensively with representatives of VDOT, PBS&J (responsible for the 511 IVR system and the email-based alerts system), Open Roads Consulting (responsible for the overall VA Traffic system), and our media team leads from Pulsar Advertising in realizing an effective, attractive, informative, and easily maintained website. The site, located at www.511va.org is fully section-508 compliant and includes extensive traveller and transit-related content, routing, interactive maps, weather, commuter alternatives, regional-specific sub-sites, and extensive resources that can be customized for the needs of the travelling public.
