Client: Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

Project: Antarctic Invertebrates

The United States Antarctic Program collection at the Smithsonian Institution houses nearly 19 million specimens of marine invertebrates. Redmon developed a sophisticated database-driven website that allows both academic and casual users to view images, literature references, location information, and/or descriptions for all invertebrate species represented in the museum’s collections. Navigational aids include an interactive taxonomic tree and mapping tools to plot collecting locations by species or higher taxonomic grouping or by research expedition. Administrative tools allow for continual addition and updating of data and images by museum staff.
