For the past 10 years, the Smithsonian National Museum of American History has been working on expanding their galleries of transportation to include a new exhibition featuring their large collection of artifacts related to waterborne transportation. The result is On the Water, an exhibit that includes two Redmon-produced interactives.
Two interactives produced by Redmon, Web of Connections (1500s to 1800s) and Modern Maritime Connections, feature fully-rendered 3d graphics presented as interactive on-computer DVDs. For both interactives, Redmon started with researched content provided by the Smithsonian staff and created interactive 3d environments, maps, and rotating globes that present statistical and historical information in an engaging visual fashion. For these productions Redmon generated thousands of frames of 3d animation all of which were brought together to create a high-quality interactive video featuring smooth transitions between segments.
