The National Museum of Natural History has dedicated 23,000 square feet (the largest exhibition space in the museum) to the new Sant Ocean Hall, a space dedicated to exploring the largest habitat on the Earth, our oceans. Ocean Hall incorporates a diverse collection of artifacts, living specimens, and interactive learning opportunities including four experiences designed and implemented by Redmon.
Originally intended for stand-alone installation, the two principal interactives developed by Redmon, Managing Marine Fisheries and Confronting Climate Change were incorporated into a pair of combined work stations. In both interactives, visitors get background information on the topic, make exploratory decisions based on their preferences, and experience the impact on both the environment and representative stakeholders. This is all performed through a collection of Redmon-produced video clips, 2d animations and Flash-based interactive segments.
Additionally, Redmon provided the interactive foundation for two additional interactive stations, The Ocean as a Laboratory and Scientific Ocean Drilling, which allow visitors to explore collections of HD video. These experiences were developed using Adobe Director.
