In support of a possible facilities change, the National Science Foundation (NSF) launched their "Future NSF" initiative with the intent of promoting active communication with all members of the NSF staff. NSF and their partner design firm OPX requested that Redmon design and implement an interactive focal point for their presentation and ongoing exhibition regarding the effort.
Redmon designed and programmed an interactive, multi-touch surface that provides users the ability to explore a number of methods of expressing their thoughts and ideas regarding a new home for NSF. Multiple users can simultaneously draw; place, scale, and arrange images; and create floorplans using icons and primitives all on a large rear-projected touchscreen surface from GestureTek. Behind the scenes the created works are captured and saved as an ongoing record of the ideas and suggestions provided.
