Harrington Software Associates (HSA) hired the Redmon Group to develop five interactive, media-rich, narrated Flash-based modules on safety-related topics for teleworkers based on storyboards provided by HSA. The key technology-related challenge that Redmon solved for this project was ensuring the Flash modules compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards.
Redmon designed the modules such that each page (sixty plus per module) is a separate Flash file that gets loaded into a common interface. Features of the modules include full narration, video, graphics, animation, and multiple choice quizzes. For some of the quizzes, the content is dynamically loaded from outside of Flash, such that it can be easily updated and changed by non-Flash developers. The results of these quizzes, including customized feedback, can be printed by the user.
