Redmon, in conjunction with our management partner Vogt Productions and our media partner Interface Media, provided the California Science Center (CSC) with A/V and interactives for their new traveling exhibit Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear. In the exhibit, visitors learn about various types of fear as well as the scientific basis and evolutionary benefit of fear.
Early-on it was expressed that all interactive elements provide for the possibility for web deploy, so Flash was selected as the foundation for all interactive development. Redmon worked closely with our media partners in the design and development of the interactive experiences, particularly the Survival Game which incorporated a full (albeit accelerated) evolution simulation.
In Danger/ No Danger, visitors are given a glimpse of a potential threat and asked to indicate whether it is a danger or not, giving insight to the amigdylas function of immediately interpreting threats and triggering responses. Adolphs Experiment involves visitors in an ongoing data collection effort on the sources and interpretation of fear response. Make a Scary Movie allows visitors to take an innocuous video clip and make it scary by introducing music and sound effects. Finally, the Survival Game simulates the effects that insufficient and overly sensitive fear responses have on a population of fictitious creatures threatened by predators.
