Great American Restaurants (GAR) is a collection of American-style restaurants, which has been evolving since 1974. It currently operates eight successful restaurants and one bakery in Northern Virginia . GAR asked Redmon to design, develop, and host a Web site that would allow them to provide information for customers and to maintain and update the content themselves. GAR's restaurants include:
The Web site consists of a home page and links to the individual restaurants and the bakery. The restaurant pages are structured in the same manner, providing one-click access to lunch and dinner menus, wine or beer lists, general information about the restaurant and its operating hours, as well as directions on how to get there. A Phone Ahead page is included so that diners' names can be added to the waiting list ahead of their arrival. Additional features include an online job application form, a comments page, and a gift certificate page. The back-end of this Web site comprises an administration module where GAR staff can add, delete, or modify restaurants, menus, wine and beer lists, and bills of fare.
