In the highly competitive cable programming market, Discovery Networks must showcase and support its diverse programming to drive distribution. The iPAK Web site, therefore, provides information on network programming, advertising, and marketing for each of its television networks for use by its affiliates. iPAK has been effective in disseminating this information to a wide business-to-business audience. Recently, Discovery has outgrown its capabilities. In an effort to enhance the functionality of the site, while lowering maintenance requirements, Discovery called upon Redmon to design and develop a second iteration of the iPAK Web site.
To build the second iteration of iPAK, Redmon enhanced the site's business-to-business capabilities through a content-driven database. The database-centered design allows for robust functionality and easy maintainability, requiring a minimum of technical skills from Discovery site administrators. As a result, the site addresses the needs of its audience, while preserving its low cost of ownership. The new version of iPAK also employs a robust e-commerce capability and features custom usage tracking and visitor profiling.
