Redmon, subcontracting to Hadley Exhibits, provided the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank (CFRB) with A/V and interactives for their new Learning Center and Money Museum targeting school field trips and visitors curious about the Bank and its mission. In the new facility, visitors learn about the nature and history of currency in an exploration hosted by the characters from The Wizard of Oz.
Redmon was responsible for developing 3 theatrical audio segments, 1 fully animated short film; 1 live action short film; 2 interactive games; 2 database interactives; and 1 encyclopedic video interactive. The Bank desired interactives that could be updated by in-house staff, and not only be placed in kiosks on-site, but that could also be placed on shared resource computers, the internet and CD-ROMs for use in schools.
All production work was done by in-house Redmon staff and a Cleveland on-site video crew. To meet this objective, multiple teams focused on the various aspects of the project. One team was responsible for the animated and live-action short films and audio segments. A separate team was responsible for the database interactives. A third team focused on the games and overall artistic support, and a forth team focused on development of the encyclopedic video interactive.
For the animated short film, Redmon worked closely with the CFRB team to streamline and polish a script provided by CFRB subject-matter experts. Photographs, illustrations, animations, and visual effects were prepared, integrated, and approved through a set of review iterations with the client.
The live-action short film was shot on-site at the Bank under the direction of Redmon producers. The raw footage was then captured, edited, sub-titled, and mastered to DVD in two formats (short and long) for use in the exhibit space.
Since the database interactives were intended to deploy both to on-site kiosks and a web-site, these interactives were built using Web-based technologies to ease porting to a new environment. The added advantage of this approach is that CFRB staff can update the content for the interactive by using a data-export tool (developed by Redmon) to create new look-up tables from their in-house databases. In addition, the interactive kiosks were built on the Redmon in-house Coordinator2 and Manger2 foundation technologies, which provides presentation flexibility and stability.
